How are entries judged?

A panel of judges, comprised of professionals from the appropriate department(s) of the corporation sponsoring the problem, reviews all entries according to a published rubric. (Click HERE to see it) The time spent on the solution, the resources utilized, creativity, and cost effectiveness are considered in judging. The judges select several finalist teams, who are invited to make oral presentations of their solution at the corporate offices.  Transportation to the finals is the responsibility of the teams that are invited.  Winning teams receive trophies and other prizes at the discretion of the sponsoring corporations.

What are the benefits for students?

Let's Get Real™ is an opportunity for students to apply their problem-solving skills to authentic business situations, to work together in teams, to become better acquainted with and prepared for the business world, to make individual impressions on a major corporation, and to have fun!

What are the benefits for corporate co-sponsors?

Let's Get Real™ provides an opportunity for businesses to become directly involved with young people, to encourage them to study in fields of interest to the corporation, to gain appreciation for the accomplishments of young people, and to derive benefits from the solutions generated by minds not constrained by "the box". As an example, in the first year of the competition, a winning team composed of seventh graders submitted information that led to a savings of approximately $20,000 per year for the sponsoring corporation. Corporations also benefit by publicly supporting education.
