Dr.
Dan Holt
Let's Get Real™
Founder and President
Dan G. Holt, Ph.D. (formerly
an assistant professor of Educational Psychology at Penn State-Harrisburg) most
recently he served as the Midwest Regional Director for the College Gifted
Program, and currently works as President of Let's Get Real™
and as an educational consultant.
Dr. Holt holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma, a
Masters in Education in Counseling and Psychology from the State University of
West Georgia, and obtained his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, with an emphasis
in education of gifted students, from Purdue University. He
is the author of Cartoon Thinking, a book that teaches both the
thinking processes involved in and the art of cartooning. He
has published articles in Gifted Child Today, International Journal of
Humor Research, Gifted Education Press Quarterly, and the Illinois
Association for Gifted Journal.
He is co-author of the book Applying
Multiple Intelligences to Gifted Education: I'm Not Just an IQ Score! and
the chapter on Assessment Tools for Counselors in the book Counseling
the Gifted and Talented. He is the illustrator of the book Quotes
for Kids. Dr. Holt has presented at dozens of state, regional,
national, and international conferences and invited workshops.

Colleen Willard-Holt

State Coordinator for Pennsylvania
Dr. Colleen Willard-Holt
obtained her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Purdue University, West
Lafayette, IN with emphases in Qualitative and Quantitative Research
Methodologies, Assessment, and Gifted Education in 1993. She received her
Masters of Science in Education from The Johns Hopkins University,
Baltimore, MD in 1983. She received her Bachelor of Science in Special
Education & Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin in 1979.
Dr. Willard-Holt is currently an Associate Professor of Education at
Penn State University in Harrisburg. Her teaching experience includes ten
years experience in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in assessment,
learning theories, general teaching methods, professional development, higher
order thinking, gifted education, and special education. In addition, she
has ten years experience in teaching K-12 gifted education, high school special
education, and high school math. Dr. Willard-Holt has published nine
refereed journal articles, one refereed monograph, two book chapters, two
curriculum handbooks, fifteen non-refereed articles, eight book reviews, and two
ERIC documents, all in the areas of gifted education and teacher education.
She has made over one hundred presentations to local, regional, state, national
and international audiences on the topics of gifted education, assessment,
brain-based education, and teacher education.

Polly Bakker is currently
Supervisor of Gifted & Talented Education at Arch Ford Education Cooperative
in Plumerville, Arkansas. She works with 34 school districts. She is
president of the NAGC affiliate Arkansans For Gifted & Talented Education.
In addition, she is the founder of AAGEA, Arkansas Association Gifted Education
Administrators. She is a former State Director of Odyssey of the Mind and
now serves on the state board of directors for Destination Imagination.
She has recently formed the Arkansas Chess Association. She is editor of
AAGEAN Digest and has worked with Academic Enrichment For Gifted In Summer,
Arkansas Governors School, Arkansas Advanced Placement, and Arkansas School for
Math & Science.

Kansas
Margo is K-12 Gifted Consultant for
U.S.D. #273 in Beloit, Kansas. She has worked eleven years in this capacity, as
well as one year in Concordia, Kansas, where she lives. She has also taught high
school English and French in Nebraska. Hosie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Her Master’s Degree in
Gifted Education is from Kansas State University. At Beloit High School she is
coach of the Scholars’ Bowl Team, and is serving her second term as treasurer
on the board of the Kansas Association of Scholars’ Bowl Coaches. Aspects in
which Hosie works with her students include Scholars’ Bowl; Geographic Bee;
Knowledge Master; Duke Talent Search; Career Exploration; and, many others that
are familiar to those working in Gifted Education. A main focus in her schools
has been a highly successful Written & Illustrated project, which she began
eleven years ago. It involves a large number of students every year and brings
an author or illustrator to Beloit to speak at the annual Authors’ Party held
every year in April.

Cindy is currently in her third year teaching
Gifted and Talented and academic competition classes at a 7-9 jr. high. She
coaches and sponsors academic competitions including: Let's Get Real,
Destination Imagination, Science Olympiad, Science Fair, History Day, Knowledge
Master, Geography Bee, and Young Authors. Prior to her jr. high assignment
Cindy taught Gifted and Talented elementary students for ten years. She has a
bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Wyoming and a
Masters degree in Gifted Education from the University of Connecticut. She also
teaches a Gifted and Talented class for teachers through the University of
Wyoming. During her spare time, Cindy enjoys flower gardening, golf,
reading, and snowmobiling.

Bill Keilty, Ed.D. is Coordinator of Gifted
Programs in the Spring Lake Park, MN schools. He is a contributing member
of the executive board of the Minnesota Gifted and Talented Development Center.
He teaches at the graduate level for Hamline University offering course work in
the Gifted Certificate program, MAED program, and at the doctoral level in
Educational Leadership. He is a frequent presenter/professional developer
working in the field of gifted education and a board member of the Minnesota
Educators of the Gifted and Talented. He is the father of 4 gifted sons.

Mr. Holt, currently a consultant
with American Management Systems Inc., obtained his Masters of Business
Administration from the University of Oklahoma in 1999. He received his
bachelors of science – Zoology, cum laude in 1997; also from the University of
Oklahoma. In 1990, Mr. Holt spent several months in the USSR as a student
ambassador. 1998 found Mr. Holt spending time in the Africa and Caribbean
(AFCAR) section of Barclays Bank’s while working in London, England. Mr.
Holt, was an active participant in the Gifted and Talented program at Jenks High
School in Jenks, Oklahoma, and has participated in several academic
competitions, as well as volunteered both as a tutor and soccer coach.

Larry Campbell

Larry B. Campbell retired
from his position as Staff Scientist in Hershey Foods Research and Development
Department, Hershey, PA in February, 2002. He has a BS degree in AgBioSci ('63)
and an MS degree in Dairy Science ('67) both from The Pennsylvania State
University. His career includes four years on the research staff in the
Food Science Department at Penn State followed by 32 years in various R&D
positions at Hershey Foods Corporation. His expertise includes chocolate
products, dairy products, syrups and toppings. Larry has been responsible
for a number of new products and product reformulations in the U.S., Canadian
and International markets. These products include SYMPHONY Milk Chocolate,
Hershey's Chocolate Syrup, Brown Cow Syrup (International), Top Scotch Topping
(Canada), Hershey's Lite n' Creamy Milk Chocolates (International) and Hershey's
Chocolate Milk.
Larry's professional affiliations
include the American Association of Candy Technologists, American Dairy Science
Association and the Institute of Food Technologists (past chair). He
serves on the Board of Directors of the PMCA and International Confectionery
Association where he also served as President and Chairman of the Board, and the
Chair of the Research, Scholarship and Education Committees. He is
currently President of the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni
Society and also serves on the Penn State Alumni Council. Over the years
Larry has held leadership positions in a number of community and church
organizations. He has been involved with the United Way of the Capital Region
serving as a past Chair of the Business and Industry Division 2 and as a Loaned
Executive. He has also served as a member of Governor Ridge's Technology 21
Initiative and participated in the Capital Area Math/Science Alliance.

As PPL's Education
Relations Directors, Lawrence (Larry) C. Sparta develops and implements
initiatives that align with corporate strategies and that address the needs and
interests of community and academic partners. Mr. Sparta has been
supervising PPL's education outreach efforts for ten years. Under the
umbrella of Education Relations are five broad strategies:
school-to-career/workforce development, strategic alliances, employee
volunteerism, energy education and environmental education.
Mr. Sparta is positioned in
leadership roles at regional, state and national levels. He chairs the
following: Edison Electric Institute's Education Relation Committee,
Pennsylvania Business Roundtable's Workforce Development Task Force, PPL's
Advisory Council for Excellence in Education, and Bethlehem Area Vo-tech Local
Advisory Council. Mr. Sparta was appointed by Governor Tom Ridge as a
member of Pennsylvania's Adult Basic and Literacy Education Council. He is
also a member of the Utility Business Education Coalition, Pennsylvania Center
for Environmental Education Business and Industry Council, and Lehigh
County Career and Technical Institute Steering Committee.
